All I Want to Tell You About Poker
My Life Now I Found Poker
In 2001, I graduated from university with a degree in a subject that I had no real interest in. I did the usual thing that every 18 years does and thought of how much alcohol I could consume in a 3-year period whilst legitimately dodging tax.
My life was pretty much mapped out; I, like many did no real work in the first two years of university but prided myself in knowing which drink would make me very drunk without costing very much money. Real work only started in my 3rd year and then on after that.
My 3rd year was the time when I had to grow up which I hated the thought of as I knew that after this year my university safety net was well and truly over. The dreaded working life was fast approaching and the thought made me more and more nauseas.
The thought of working a 9 till 5 job filled me with so much anxiety that I started to think of ways that could keep my student life alive but also have the ability to earn money. After a great deal of soul searching and trawling the internet, I came across some ideas. The first one was being a male gigolo, although this clearly had some job merit, it was hardly the kind of career I could bring up at a after dinner conversation.
So I looked further into my second option which was UK poker Site playing. The draw back to this was that I needed some money to get started but apart from that it was the perfect choice.
I visited www.pokerstars.com where I registered my details. I borrowed some money off the bank of mum and dad and proceeded to play. The great thing about this site is that it has a poker school which helped me improve my game. I get to play from home so I don’t even have to get dressed and the best of all is that I get to play a game I enjoy whilst winning money at the same time. A perfect solution all round.
How Many Poker Games
So many poker games exist and they all involve different strategies, styles and variations. But the most popular is Texas Hold’em. This game can be played with a limit or no limit and each one can be played differently. Omaha Hold’em is similar to Texas only with more community cards.
Then there is Pineapple Holdem or also known as Crazy Pineapple. This one is kind of half of Texas and half of Omaha. In this game though, players have to discard one of their three cards. Stud poker has various differences. This is the typical game that is played in casinos and Seven Card Stud High-Low is the more tournament card game. Draw Poker is the most basic of all poker games. Almost everyone knows of Five Card Draw although it is hardly ever seen in casinos any longer.
In Lowball, aces play low and the lowest hand wins. One variation is Deuce to Seven Draw and here straights and flushes do count. Razz is also known as Seven Card Stud lowball. This type of poker game is seldom seen in tournaments.
Poker Tournament Etiquette
When you are ready to place you bet, be sure not to throw it into the pot. When you do this, the dealer has trouble seeing what you bet and the other players will not know either. If you feel you want to raise, then say it out loud when it is your turn.
If is your responsibility to keep others from not seeing what cards, you have. To do this simply hold your hand or even a chip on top.
Be sure to wait your turn before you act. This type of behavior will only confuse the other players and even if you plan to fold, again, wait for your turn. If you chose to fold, don’t begin talking about the cards you just had because you may give another player an unfair advantage.
The playing table is not the place for a poker lesson. If they have a better hand than you, just say “nice hand” and leave the table, no need for any further words. And never bring up Bad Beat stories as they are found to be boring. Everyone has had their bad time, but that time is gone, let it go.
